About the Author
Violetta Dubinina is an internationally known and award-winning educator and author with nearly 40 years of experience teaching mathematics to students at all grade levels. Mrs. Dubinina's students have received awards at state and national mathematics competitions, and a majority of those who apply to New York City specialized high schools are admitted to the school of their choice. Mrs. Dubinina is an active member of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics and a recipient of the prestigious Mathematical Associaton of America Edyth May Sliffe Award for Excellence in Teaching.

A Bit too Harsh?

My daughter used this book to practice for the SHSAT test but as I could recall, she had great difficulty in working her way through the problems. I think that if you can get through these set of questions, you are more than well prepared for taking the math section of the exam. The answer key doesn't help that much, so I had to help her figure out what she did wrong while answering questions. I also found a few mistakes in some questions, so maybe a revision would be good? Overall, this book was difficult, but after working her way through, my daughter realized that it isn't as bad as she thought.

Overall she said she liked the book and felt that it would help her

Picked this up for my niece. Similar to the first book, the questions seem harder than on the released practice tests. My niece said that she thinks there were also some mistakes in the answer key in this second version as well. Again the explanations were not very detailed so she had some difficulty understanding her mistakes on a few problems. Overall she said she liked the book and felt that it would help her.

Very helpful book

It is a good book, with a variety of problems. It consists of several full length tests (math part). At the back of the book, there are answers with detailed explanations. Overall, it is a very helpful book for SHSAT prep. Also, there is a first volume that i would also recommend buying.
