I am interested in the Enfield 1853 rifle and it was used in the Crimean War, Indian Mutiny, and the American Civil War. I read the publisher's book about the Indian Mutiny in the same series of books and it was great. I started reading this and quit about a third of the way through. It was terrible. It was just plain boring. Probably another book written with index cards. I don't recommend it, but I didn't see anything else on Amazon that might have been better. The Crimean War is apparently still in history book limbo for modern casual readers.
