A Wonderful Guide to Restorative and Gentle Yoga!!

This was truly a great guide to the basics of restorative yoga! The author, Michael Hetherington shows his true expertise in acupuncture and yoga through the detailed and straightforward information about the basics of yoga, as well as recommended materials, various poses, and even practice sequences for various issues. The pose examples and practice sequences come complete with great pictures so even the most beginning students can understand. Overall, this book a wonderful, easy, and informative read, and I was able to finish the book with ease. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in restorative yoga!!

Amazingly effective and calming

As it turns out, there is yoga, then there is "restorative" yoga. And if you want to enjoy something that can truly uplift your health and spirit, deeply calm your mind, and can restore a sense of balance in your life, then Michael Hetherington has all the answers. At the very least, he firmly reminds us that the phrase "no pain, no gain" is not always true--in fact, its effect might be the opposite.

Hetherington's book, `How to Do Restorative Yoga' is a delight to read, primarily because you can immediately go ahead and do what the book says without too much preparation. In fact, a few hours after reading this and performing some of the "light" poses, you can immediately feel a huge difference.

I also love how the author emphasizes safety. As you know, there are certain yoga practices that are reported to cause more damage than good, and I love the fact that Hetherington is mindful of the utmost safety of his readers. Hetherington, a seasoned, well-experienced yoga teacher with years of experience in helping out countless people achieve a better, healthier life through yoga, asserts to follow his "fundamentals" first to make sure you don't rush into doing the poses and thereby negate whatever positive benefits yoga is supposed to bring.

Most importantly, the book enlightens even readers who are encountering yoga and its related concepts for the very first time. The author's language is easy to read, with a friendly tone that inspires rather than intimidates, and the discussion helpfully detailed that makes you understand the concepts behind the poses, and what they do to the body. I had my computer "read" the book's instructions aloud while I try to do the first few poses, and it's awesome. You can do this in the comfort and quiet of your own home, without needing any complicated, expensive equipment.

Overall , `How to Do Restorative Yoga' is a great investment for your health and well-being. Get a copy today--or send this as a gift to your friends. If you want to be sure, see the first few chapters on Kindle and try out the first few poses--I bet that like me, you'll get instantly hooked! Five stars, no less.

Great pocket guide for Restorative Yoga

About 13 poses are shown in nice easy to follow photographs. Great guide if you are just starting out with a good introduction on how to do restorative yoga as well as mindufulness practices.

The book was short and to the point. Gotta love a direct approach.
